Unit 8

I would have to say the most benefitial practice to me has been meditation and yoga. I have always had a problem just sitting down and taking time to relax as I am always on the go and very active, but after trying yoga and doing a couple hours of meditation each week it has allowed me to be able to relax more and has given me the ability to get more rest which my body definitely needed. I feel much less streesed and feel like I am more of a happy and positive person ever since starting yoga and meditation. I would highly recommend and have recommended yoga and meditation to family and friends as a way to clear the mind and relax.

Unit 7

This week I went to yoga 4 times at the fitness center I belong to as part of my spirtiual wellness for the week. I went for a half hour each time and during those times I was at the most relaxed state of any other time throughout the week. During yoga I was able to relax and let all the stresses of my day disappear with breathing and focusing on clearing my mind. I really enjoy attending yoga as it allows me to become mentally stronger each time I attend class. Through yoga I can feel myself becoming less and less stressed when faced with complicated situations that in the past have caused me to become angry yoga has definitely brought a balance into my life. I believe as a health and wellness professional it is important to tryout and expierence all different kinds of physical and mental exercises because as a professional you cannot recommend something to someone that you have not tried yourself as that is false advertising in my opinion. I believe it is important to have an open mind and try everything within  boundaries of safety and healthy at least once then as a professional you can give your honest opinion to other people because you have expierenced it yourself.

Unit 6

After completing the first exercise I felt much more relaxed and ready to put others before myself. I have always thought of myself who has put other people before myself but after completing this exercise I realized that I could do an even better job of putting others before myself. I believe the one area that I can grow and develop in is volunteering. In high school I did a lot of volunteering for coaching youth soccer camps and things like that, but after I went to college I started to do less and less volunteering as my time became more consumed with school and work, and I need to make more time to volunteer as I know it is important kids to have someone to look up to in their lives and I am going to start making more time to volunteer. I am going to set aside 5 hours a week for volunteering to start and go from their because working full time and going to school full time takes up a lot of my time but it is a start.

Unit 5

I definitely liked the subtle mind exercise more than the Loving kindness exercise because I felt my mind was a lot more clear and at ease during the breathing exercises performed for the subtle mind exercise. The loving kindness exercise was very helpful but at the same time I felt more focused on when to breath in and out than just relaxing and letting my mind run free and clear.

Spiritual wellness is just at important as mental and physical wellness because being physically healthy is only half the battle if your mind is not clear and you are not in control of your mind and body then you become stressed or irritated which can lead to health problems. Many people forget to train their mind as well as their body and they think as long as they are physically active then they are healthy when in reality this is not true at all it is important to be connected spiritually as well as physically. Being connected spiritually makes you feel more connected to the world around you and doesnt make you feel alone in the world it allows you to connect with god and it is good to know that someone is listening to you when you pray and are having problems.

Unit 3 Blog

I would say on a scale of 1 to 10 my physical well being is at a 9  because I am very active and take care of my body. I eat very good and overall I am very happy with my body. As far as spirtual well being goes I would say I am at a 7 because I know there is a lot more I could be doing to be more spirtually connected. Last psychological well being I would say is at an 8 because I am very self-controlled and deal with my emotions in a healthy way and have learned to do this with maturity. My goals are to continue to maintain an active lifestyle, get more in touch with god and the church, and continue to control my anger as that has been a problem in the past. I believe staying active by working out daily, I can start going to church at least a couple times a month, and when I feel myself start to get angry take a step back and relax and control myself before doing something stupid. I hope all of you enjoyed this blog please leave comments and let me know any ?s that you have.
